Feeling sentimental about my former '67 4005

Post by v64jazzbass »

Hi Guys,
All of this 4005 lust is getting to me. Now I can't even remember why I sold my '67 FG 4005 (as well as the Alembic and Lull) in the first place! It's all of you 4005 owners fault.

If anybody sees my former FG 4005 (GE 2451) around or you own it, please contact me and/or give me first dibs on it if you ever sell it. After a long search in '96-98, I sold it to Eliot at Rumble Seat music 3 years ago...last time I saw it, it was on the CME website. It has a very distinctive finish wear/thumb-gouge pattern. A player for sure. I should never have sold it.

Oh well...at least I got to play it for a while.

I used to have an Exploiter, with a flame koa top. I turned it into a fretless which sounded quite nice. I also changed out the electronics for a VPT with Q switch, and installed the original Spoiler electronics in a box to use as an outboard preamp.

Never sell your 4005s! Loan them to friends maybe, but never sell them.

Welcome Ken. I could write a book filled with basses I've regreted selling.

Dont feel bad your in good company, besides that you did take a nice photo of them.

You all know how to make a guy feel welcome. Thanks for the support guys! ;) (Ouch, rub my face in it.) Marc/Dave, yes, I'm jealous.
Dave, the Exploiter and Ric are the two I regret selling the most--enjoy your luck. You're like me two years ago! Learn from me...don't sell them! I'm fortunate to have other nice axes, though.

I sold the Ric and Alembic around the same month that I pronounced "I'm not a collector" and decided that they weren't getting enough play, so they had to go. Still looking for a Series II Exploiter out there and another bargain 4005. Here's the 4005 as it appeared on the CME website <sniff-sniff>

Now, I have a nice 4003VP--the nicest, most playable Ric I have ever owned--and the Ric jones is in full swing again.

btw, I was Ken O. ....then there was a bizarre registering accident and then I got better.
