After reading our posts and his own correspondence with this guy he probably didn't want it anymore.

If he could turn it for a profit, he wanted it. He probably just forgot about it, since he was high bidder for a week.

the nasty gash on the headstock was the big turnoff for me.

Yeah, I noticed that too, it was a big chunk taken out of it and glued back on. Hard to match that up in that color.
