You know I should have asked Same Day Music another question with respect to how warranty would work.

Francis did mention a 60 day Same Day Music return for full refund guarantee if it was not to my liking or if the bass was damaged or there were issues with it. But would the Ric warranty apply in this scenario? I doubt it.

I think these may be back door operations for authorized dealers.

After all that, can someone recommend a reliable dealer in Canada, or at least one who regularly deals with Canadian sales?

Apparently it's the back door of Victor's House of Music- at least they share a common address. Anyway, this is not an authorized outlet for new product.

Does that mean if one were to buy a "new Rickenbacker" from them, that it would void the warranty in any way?

In my mind there is something wrong there period. Why would they offer "blems" at a $100 less than perfect 4003's?

That's a come on. Plus they cannot tell you even when you call in person, what sort of blemishes they are. What is that? If they are boxed up and NOT inspected how do they know that they are blemished. Does Ric sell blemished units? John?

I would bet not.

"I smell fish" is right Ken.

I've been buying Ric's for 25 years. I have never seen a factory second for sale. NO WAY....

Musician's Friend sell blems too. And they also couldn't tell me the nature of the imperfections.

"If they are boxed up and NOT inspected how do they know that they are blemished."

They're probably returns. Some kid buys a 4003 from Victor's, takes it to a gig or home, puts some buckle rash on it, gets buyer's remorse and takes it back for a refund. Victor's can't resell it as new, so they change their name to Same Day and generously knock $100 off the price (and openly display the price on their site). All this is just a theory of course, but for a measly $100, I personally wouldn't take any chances. Heck, MARS used to have a 4003 on the wall that looked like someone had literally taken a bite out of, and they only took $50 off of that one. Needless to say, it hung there until their last day.

Good point Jason and a very plausible theory,

Welcome to the forum BTW.

Thanks for the greeting and my Rick pics are forthcoming. Love Ricks, it's great to be at a point where I can afford them.
