John Hall emailed the high bidder and told him that serial number came off of a 335 guitar and not a 4001s bass ... so we were correct in saying it is a 4001v63 carcass that someone attempted to pass off as a '68 ... and that is a real '68 jack plate ... it just doesn't belong on that wood ... I would be interested in just the wood body without the plastic and metal for a 5 string 4001cs or a 5 string wings bass ... but that bass is only worth a few hundred dollars ...

I spoke to the "buyer" last night. He was grateful to all concerned in this matter. Hopefully, he will be visiting here in the future.

Too bad the Emperor couldn't get stuck with it.

The Emperor was in at $2K, would have been nice had he been stuck with it.

Marc ... I like the way you think ... the emperor stuck with that bass ... it is poetic justice ... he could hang it on the wall next to his portrait of his hero Hitler ...
