"I think John has opened himself up to some unwanted criticism, over a guy who was just looking for some help"

I can certainly see your point, and I do feel it's unfortunate when posts are deleted, but the bottom line is that it's John's house and I don't think anyone has the right to question what he does there.

Brian,I'm just messing with you, hind sight is 20/20 Next time around you get 25 ill get 25 and we can corner the market.

As far as JH and the Ric forum,I agree with Brian,If you don't like the service go to another restaurant. This could have been discussed in an e-mail to JH from the potential buyer ,Its business not to be mixed with talk or gossip.

Exactly. I think he should have emailed the company directly. Discussing or trashing someone in a public forum is really an absolute last resort.

The sad part about this whole thing is EBAY has more Rics for sale (used AND new at times) than any Dealer anyplace. What pisses me off is I'd like to buy a Vintage Style (V63/64/68)Bass. I'd love to be able to order it, even if I had to wait. I can't!
I don't think that Rickenbacker CUSTOMER was at all out of line.(emphasis on CUSTOMER)FYI: My opinion only.

Kenneth, of course Ebay has more, they have 40 years of inventory to choose from! Image
And the reason you can't order a vintage style bass is because they stopping making them. So it sounds like Ebay is the only place.
I've always wanted a white 4003, but they don't make those anymore either. So.....

The guy never trashed anyone, he wasn't rude or malicious in the public forum, Im guessing by that remark you never read the original posts that were made. All he was doing was expressing what had happened and that a distributor wouldn't reply to his emails about not only an existing order but another potential order he was thinking of making. He did also mention that others too hadn't had replies from the same distributor. Thats it nothing more nothing less.

At some point you just have to let go.

There is still a demand for just about every consumer good that 'used to be'...cars, guitars, furniture, clothes etc...it's just not in the cards to keep making everything, or even some of it. That's how the old stuff becomes even more desireable, it's not made anymore. Maybe RIC will do something like a 'V68' one day, then again maybe not.

To be honest my original post on the Official Rickenbacker Forum wasn't to criticize the lack of products being made and it wasn't even a criticism against Rickenbacker or the distributors. I was asking for a "just/recently shipped option" to be made available on the Rickenbacker website for UK/Europe, so that its was possible to trace what distributors or dealers had what, allowing potential customers to find out where exactly to call for the exact product they wanted. Thus allowing anyone in the UK or Europe to find a product that was readily available before making an order.

The "Recently Shipped" option which was introduced for US customers was a very good idea, and I was just asking for that to be expanded for the UK/Europe.

I just don't get why they don't produce what the market would buy. The craziest thing I've seen is the F****r relic guitars.
Who'da thunk it. Yet, they sell 'um all. More importantly, they brought this idea to the purchasing public. Good for them ($), satisfaction for their customers.

Ken, it's not the Stones its "Everybody wants what they can't have" Cars, Guitars, old skateboards, Women. I guess I'm still kicking myself 'cause years ago when I worked for a Music Store I could have had as many V63's, CS's as wanted. Live-n-learn. My dumb.

just my opinion, but relic guitars always made me laugh.

Go buy a real vintage instrument... or if prices are too high, heaven forbid just get a reissue and play it... dings and scratches are part of the fun, and the more you play the more you get.

If you really want the relic look in a hurry, just be sure to drink a lot before and after you play your next gig, and hold your bass in hand the entire night. The next morning it will have the "colt 45" custom relic job. Works every time!

this all just sounds like a case of tough luck. i'm sure JH will definitely look into the matter after all the noise on the RIC forum. he gave an answer to the suggestion of expanding the "Recently Shipped" for europe, why can't people just accept it? i'm sure he's a very busy man, they should just be grateful enough that he took the time to go onto the message board and answer their questions personally.
