Please anchor to the studs!!! I know insurance money couldn't replace my 4000.They ARE all actually one of a kind unless you can play all of the potential replacements if one crashes to the floor. It would be hard to find one which plays & feels the same. Plus they usually have sentimental value beyond any possible monetary value.

That wooden rack looks interesting. I hang mine on metal hooks I got when the local music store got newer ones. They are fitted into rather ugly black metal rack style brackets used for mounting factory testing instruments, which are screwed into studs with 3" wood screws. A bit of overkill, but again better safe than sorry.

I think I just might build myself one of those wooden racks.
Also, whatever temp & humidity conditions are considered healthy for humans should be acceptable conditions for solid body guitars, as long as there are no dramatic changes from day to day.

OK, I was waiting until I dug out my shelf hardware stuff before posting, because I forgot what the darned things were called, but, try the SnapToggleBB from www.toggler.com.

I put up several 8' long bookshelves with 4 of these per shelf (2 per bracket) through a single thickness of 5/8" drywall. I then filled these shelves with books--at least 200 pounds per shelf.

They were up for about 18 months until I took 'em down to remodel my office.

Highly recommended to anchor those hangers to hollow walls. You can get 'em at Home Depot.

They look very sturdy. Thanks for the link. I'm leaving the picture where it is and will search for a new location to install the guitar hanger.
