Classic 1960s Harmonies

Quite a while back someone asked about Emitt Rhoades of the Merry Go Round, A So. Calif. pop groupe that had some local hits. I searched thru my 45's and found one of their hit records that is quite nice, titled: "She Laughed Loud" Very Beatle sounding with the Maca Bass line and harmonies that are very English accented and the backwards part toward the end. Emitt went on to do some solo recordings but never had a hit. Wonder where he's at today.

Roy, What was Dusty Springfields real name. When I first heard the Springfields doing Silver Threads and Golden Needles I was amazed at this English groupe doing Country sounding tunes. God rest her soul for not only was she a great singer but a beautiful lady with great charm and wit.

Dusty's real name Dale, was Mary O' Brien and I agree with your comments but there was a dark side to her too apparently, but I suppose that could apply equally to a number of us.

Dusty's "Don't Doubt Yourself Babe" is one of the best tunes on the Byrds' debut album, IMO.

Emitt Rhoades has quite a reputation here (So. Cal) for being a recluse. I heard at one time the Bangles and he were trying to work together. Stories surfaced of him in his big house making wonderful recordings. I understand he's active in the power pop scene, but to what extent...?

I remember hearing an Emmitt Rhoades tune a long time ago. At first I thought it was George Harrison, but afterwards, I found out who it really was. I think it was called "Made for Me", or something like that.
A good song if I remember correctly.
