McCartney In Boston

Post by 325_fan »

I had the opportunity to catch the McCartney concert in Boston on the 26th. Aside from the currently published set list, he did "Live and Let Die" toward the end of the night. He had some lame *** DJ playing some McCartneyesque music (if you want to call it that) as a warm up. I thought it was totally inappropriate for the show. The brief bio at the beginning was a real good idea. We tried to catch him as he stepped off the bus but was only able to catch Abe, Rusty, Wix, and Brian. They walked to fast to get any autographs. I think Paul might have been on the bus and they took him in through a different door. Concerts would be OK if it wasn't for the people. One woman almost got thrown out because she was harassing the staff. One of the arena staff told this little girl to get down off the seat she was standing on. I didn't see anything wrong with her standing on the chair but obviously the staff member did. The woman was up one side of the staff member and down the other. It's a wonder they let her drunken *** stay in the arena.

The show was great. Paul is showing his age and his voice was raspy at the beginning but became fine tuned during the second half. He screwed up "I Will" and had to stop and start again. I think "Penny Lane" was the highlight song of the night even though they were all very good. The new tunes are better in concert than on the CD, although the new CD is the best ever.

Strange that they kicked her out and let her *** stay, especially if it was drunken as you describe...

At least it got to stick around for "Live and Let Die".

My heart goes out to a little girl who was just trying to see over all the adult heads, no doubt.

Probably a lot more glare off those heads than there used to be at, say, a Macca concert, eh JJ? I hope someone thought to provide her with tiny souvenier Macca shades...

'Increased albedo', I believe the scientists call it...perhaps Dr. Who would like to weigh in at this point...

Wow. I just had a major flashback to one of my favorite electronica albums from ca. '78:

"Albedo 0.39". Anybody ever heard it? It was Vangelis in his early, pre-Hollywood days.

Right...I do remember it. I had a couple of his albums, Heaven and Hell, I fergit the other titles. He was rumored to be on the short list to replace Rick Wakeman in Yes...but Patrick Moraz got the gig. Ol' Vangelis couldn't cut the mustard, apparently. Then Moraz atomized the mustard and dispensed it in a fine mist...

Ooops...wrong thread. Wanna talk about Boston? I ain't been there in a while, but I know it pretty well...

I believe that Vangelis was a child prodigy.

So, he cut the mustard, but is also rumored to be a toughie to work with. Massive ego and beard.

Maybe he's waiting for whirled peas, too...

I'm sure he is...I just can't imagine him being able to pull off those Marine Corps finger-tip push-up arpeggios of Wakeman's night after night...

John Tesh, yes...I rest my case on 'virtuosity'.
