75 Walnut(Glo?)4001.....
Moderators: rickenbrother, ajish4
I found my old 1975 Ric catalog & the 4001 shown is wearing the same finish as Gregg's new
Bass, I posted a photo of the ad at the Dude Pit Bass forum, but I have to say the ad does not
do that finish justice, I don't have the price list so I can't tell if it was a special order/custom finish, but the only mention of walnut is in the ad for the 4002, which is a separate loose one page ad that was just
stick in the 1975 catalog,
Cheers,

Welcome to the "what color is it?" club. I have a 1976 4001 in the same color. If you look at the Rickenbacker site, there is a copy of the 1975 catalog and it shows the 4001 in that color. Mine can be seen on this site in the photos/features section.

I saw that one on ebay and was very tempted.
Once you resolve your pickup issue, you'll never put it down again.
Enjoy!

Gregg, have you considered my replacement bridge pickup offer? I sure would like to help a fellow Rick player here. What have you got to lose? Besides, should you find that my pickup is below par, don't hesitate to voice your disillusionment, but should you find that it does the job, please feel free to er... extol its virtues. Best regards.

Hi, Gregg. Thanks for reading my post. All you need to do is let me know your address (should you prefer to contact me via E-mail, please feel free), and I'll send you the pickup next week. As simple as that. Anyone else for pickups?

Here's the response from the seller about the bad pickup and my asking him to reimburse me.....Pretty cool guy huh?
Gregg,
When I shipped the bass it was working. How do I know you didn't damage it somehow?
I don't.
Therefore I don't feel any reimbursement is warranted.
Gary
I know he didn't solo those pickups before he sent it to me. Oh well....

That seller is asking for it. But like you say, oh well...
Your beautiful 4001 bass will soon be singing again - check your E-mail.
As for me, I've just had word that a local musician is selling a Burgundyglo 4001 bass. Wow! I'm going to check it out in a few days. I will not sleep tonight...

Burgundyglo is one of my favourite finishes. It is, without question, very striking. It may be of interest to some to know that the color is obtained by mixing Jetglo and Fireglo stains.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Rickcrazy: I would be somewhat reluctant to refer to Burgundygo as a rare finish, however, based on the current registry listings only about 2% of the instruments are of this finish.
