4001V63 E string volume output

Hmmm, interesting. Anyone care to present theories about what caused this?

I know it might sound bizarre but it`s true. The Bass sounds amazing now ! I think it`s mainly due to the fact I raised the action a bit.

I've heard that if the action is too low, the pickup's magnetic field causes too much pull on the string and can dampen it somewhat. I never suspect to that extent though. Glad it's all worked out!

Beautiful! I've never seen a v63 before. I thought it might have the wave sanded off the horns like the C series, but I see it has the regular body shape.

There are two V63 bases in group 2 of the photo section - bass photos. I didn't notice them before.

It`s my only Rick Bass... for now. I am waiting the release of the Cheyenne 5 string Bass and start to get a little impatient...

I have a 4001V63 and when I got it, the bass had flatwounds on it. When I played it on stage the first time I noticed the volume difference on the E string. However, when I replaced the flats with ground roundwounds, the volume returned to normal. All the strings are now pretty equal in volume. Perhaps this is a string problem more than a pick-up problem,at least it was for me.

Well, sometimes one really could use adjustable polepieces on their pickups. There is no point in 'blaming' strings for uneven string volume. Polepieces on any pickup ought to be adjustable, period.

I'm not blaming strings solely for this particular problem. I'm only saying trying different strings may help, as it certainly did in my case.
