Lennon/McCartney & Co. songs recorded by others?

Post by varmint »

And NOT recorded by the Beatles or solo artist?
A friend of mine is doing some research into the subject and I figured the Beatles Forum think tank would be a good place to start.
Thanks!

David: I'm sure we've had several threads covering this topic before. When you say 'not recorded by The Beatles', do you mean formally recorded and released or do demos and rehearsals count as recordings?

I'm talking about formally recorded & released songs. For example, I think Lennon/McCartney wrote some tunes that they felt didn't suit the Beatles, but they gave them to the Rolling Stones, who recorded them. Also, I'm wondering if any of the solo members write songs for others, which they didn't record themselves.
I thought this topic may have been covered previously, but I can't seem to find it by scanning through the subject lines of previous posts. If I'm repeating something that has already been talked to death, please forgive me and if possible, please point me in the direction of the thread that has covered this topic.

David: Well then let me get the ball rolling. I'm at the office, so I don't have my usual resources at hand. Here are a few off the top of my head-

Bad To Me (Billy J. Kramer and The Dakotas)
Come And Get It (Badfinger)
Hello Little Girl (The Fourmost)
Tip Of My Tongue (Tommy Quickly)
Step Inside Love (Cilla Black)

I'll think of more...

From A Window (Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas)
Nobody I Know (Peter and Gordon)
Like Dreamers Do (The Applejacks)
Love Of The Loved (Cilla Black)
I'll Keep You Satisfied (Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas)
Woman (Peter and Gordon)
I'm In Love (The Fourmost)
That Means A Lot (P.J. Proby)
It's For You (Cilla Black)
I'll Be On My Way (Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas)
I Don't Want To See You Again (Peter and Gordon)
World Without Love (Peter and Gordon)
Penina (Carlos Mendes)

There must be a million more...
