Of Avian Descent

Post by admin »

Signed to Columbia in 1965 this group built their reputation for playing in the north of England, however did not originate from there.

They had but three releases of which I am aware. Not many people heard of them after the 1960s and, as it turns out, one member went on to work with a lead singer whose song they had covered with their first release.

Name the group, list their singles and which of their members would go on to work with the famous UK artist that they covered.

Roy: I would say that their three releases did not chart in the US and I suspect the same in the UK, although I suspect that you have heard of this group. Another Irish teaser for you. There are some collectors that maintain that their releases are much sought after.

One of the group members would go on to cause quite a buzz as a 1970s pub rocker.

Stan and Roy: Looking for Irish origins here, hence the "Irish teaser."

Them?
“I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did.”

Paul: You are very close. An Irish group who was, the hub of entertainment as the house band at the Plaza Ballroom in Belfast.
