Kevin: Very cool. Is the lower guitar an original 1996? What's the story on the other guitar, recent or old? I like F-holes too!

Thanks Randy. The lower guitar is a 325V63 FG with f hole made in 1996, according to Mr. Hall. I believe the 12 string is a 360/12V64 FG with f hole. It was made in 1999 and I have been told it is one of a very limited run (3) made at the time. I have read that the other two were exported to Japan.

Kevin: I suspected that they might be reissues, but they look darned so authentic that I couldn't be sure. I believe Rickenbacker offered the F-hole option on 325's for many years, but I've never seen one on a 325V63. And the 325V63 FG must have been a special order. The 360/12V64 threw me for a loop because I have never seen one with an F-hole. I'm very jealous. I love the V-series guitars and own a 360/12V64 FG and a 360V64 FG. As far as F-holes, I've got (3) 1997 reissues. My first Rick was originally a '64 325 FG with an F-hole, before someone stupidly butchered it with a router. Your guitars are too cool!

I would like to introduce and thank my Master of Ceremonies, the Face of Bass, the Ultimate Bottom End (not including my wife!),

Mr. Brian Simer.

Take a bow, Brian.

Try the veal.

Kevin, that 325 gets my heart pumpin' and my wallet jumpin'.

I'm not a huge fan of F holes or FG, but this one could convince me!

I saw the 325V63 with f hole hanging at a shop in Phoenix while there for a conference a few years ago. It did not "grab" me at first but I kept thinking about it. About a month later I called the store and it was still there! I couldn't believe that no one had bought it. I sent the payment and it turned out to be one of the best Rick deals I have ever made.

I'm thinking that it's possible more of these may have gone to Japan but I'm not sure. I have seen some Japanese store ads from the 90's that show some 325s with f-holes, and they weren't priced like they were from the 60s....

John, I think that is probably true of the 325V63 f hole models and I know there were more sold in the US as well. I have spoken with someone in the Chicago area who owned two of these for awhile. Mr. Hall confirmed that mine was originally sold by a dealer in Arizona.

Paul's not kidding! The veal is superb.

I've been trying on and off for a while to locate a 325V63 FG with f holes. I have had no luck. I did order a 350V63 FG to try and ease my pain. Kenny told me that I can add an Ac'cent vibrato, so I will probably do that. Besides the 350 is a bit easier for me to play. No f holes, but what can you do.
