Well, Castro's not far from dropping off his perch........ one wonders whether that will change anything. Probably not with the current US administration. That'd be small fish to them right about now.....

First in line to replace him: his brother and fellow Latin Idealogue, Raul.

Does this begin to sound familiar? George has Jeb, you know...

As you say, we've got no restrictions.....

OK, so it's duty free Monte Cristo's for you next year, eh??

Hmmm, would I encourage illegality?

Cigars notwithstanding;-)...

I don't hear any change in Lennon's guitar tone when he stars singing the first verse; I think it's a fader being pulled on his amp mic and the whole backing track being slightly ducked. As for the weird sound during the feedback intro, I think it could be Ringo's drum throne; I've got several Premiers with the bike seat and they wobble a bit on the post, making the exact same squeal/screech. The guitar players may have had their strings changed occasionally but no one ever seemed to lube Ringo's throne (as disgusting as that sounds) or his kick pedal (if you listen to the middle bits on "Hold Me Tight" you can hear his Speed King squeaking away like a ho's bedspsrings ;-) ).

Welcome Andy. We have really gone through most of the possibilities on this one. This thread is still just as interesting many posts later. I still think we are hearing the latching mechanism on a reel to reel recorder.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Although we talk Rics here, for the record, John was playing his (or George's) Gibson J-160E on I Feel Fine — including the feedback intro bit.

Right you are David. I can get practically the same feedback tone with my Marshall AS50R and my Gibson J-45.

and if you see the Japan tour videos, he's playing IFF on the Gibson. I have the hardest time playing that riff as he did, in a chorded position.
