DALLAS GUITAR SHOW

Post by mgauction »

This show is at the Arlington Convention Center on October 15-16th. Peter Leavitt and Graham Griffiths are coming from the UK. I will be there. Anyone else coming?

Mike: Check-out the other thread called 'Arlington Vintage Guitar Show'. So we have myself, Peter Levett, Graham Griffiths, Scott Jennings, and possibly R.C. Bengston. Several folks are staying at the Wyndham Hotel next door to the convention center. I live in Dallas, but won't be at the show until Sunday. We plan to get together for drinks or a meal. I'm looking forward to meeting some Forum folks. I'm also kicking around an idea to organize a Rick Confluence as a tie-in to next year's Arlington Vintage Show.

I had and still have tentative plans to be there. I've got my room booked but a few unforeseen events may keep me at home.

A meal and a drink (or two) on Sunday evening would be good. Any time is OK really as long as we don't waste valuable guitar hunting time.
Maybe we should wear something in the show so we can recognise each other, or maybe print our mug shots here, or maybe.........

And Mike, don't worry, I have had far worse spellings of my name than that! ImageImageImage

Peter: We could all wear tin foil hats, as I was already planning to wear mine. Does anyone know of a booth that could be a meeting point? We could set a time and meet there. If none of us are connected to a booth, we could just pick a major dealer (i.e. Gary's) and meet there.

We could also meet in the lobby of the hotel - before or after show hours. The bar, for example.

Mike: The show starts at 10:00 AM on Sunday (the only day I'll be in town). If we want to meet before the show, it might be difficult for me. I'll be spending Saturday night in Tyler, Texas which is about 120 miles to the east and about 2 hours away (with no traffic problems). I don't mind heading out early, if that's what it takes. I rarely buy anything at these shows, so I won't be doing any serious shopping. I'm more interested in meeting other Rick collectors. I'm interested in getting input for organizing a Rick Confluence for 2006. Whatever you guys want to do as far as getting together is fine with me.

Sunday after the show sounds good to me, the lobby, the bar for a pint or a meal or a strum of our new purchases. Those of us who are staying in the Wyndham could meet for breakfast Saturday morning (or Friday or Sunday, or all three days)I will be wearing an embroidered "Marshall" black T shirt on the Saturday (as I will have a few for sale which are not available in the USA). However I'm not sure about meeting up during the show because I am paranoid about missing a real bargain.

Peter: Sounds like a plan. We can meet in the Wyndham lobby and bar area after the show on Sunday night.
