OK....here's dumb question #21,677 for those of you who actually own these Tascam units....

I am having problems with hearing the bass over the cd. I have the bass plugged into the input jack, the selector is on passive....and I do have the bass input volume turned the whole way up and my bass controls are also turned up....

This is the 3rd unit I've owned new...same thing on each one except for the current one. At least on THIS one I can hear the bass a bit.

The actual question IS....if the p/u's are weak on the bass, will this affect the output thru the Tascam? I have four 73 or older basses and two '80s basses....they all sound the same thru the Tascam.

NO, I'm not deaf or hard of hearing.
YES, I have the power turned on.

Chris, I'm assuming you have the volume controls on your bass to maximum and you have turned the input control at the frony of the unit all the way up. You can balance the cd to bass volume in the menu.
If I had the unit with me it would be easier for me to explain, but I don't have it at work.

having fiddled with this thang for a couple of hours; cool, very cool. Instruction manual, uncool, very uncool. Vague, and wandering.

But you can adjust the mix of the bass signal w/the CD.

Chris-ya gotta read that lil book!

First part of the book is OK, but when it gets to the menu options, forget it !! I found it easier to just let my fingers do the walking !
But, as you say Jared - cool bit of kit !
They also do a case with a built-in speaker now

Glad you got it work Chris. I have to set the input to active because the output of my 4003 is so hot it distorts on passive!
