2x10 suggestions

Looking for a 2x10 guys...

Currently running my Yorkville XS400 through a matching Yorkie 1x15 cab & an old Fender BXR 4x10.
I just want a little more punch, of course coupled with portability.

So I'm looking at a 2x10 to replace the old Fender 4x10.

Suggestions?

I'm thinking used Eden or SWR (though I tried the Workingman's Pro cab from SWR & wasn't impressed.)

Would a 2x10 accomplish more of what I'm looking for as opposed to a 4x10?
Any used cab recommendations? I'm looking to stay under $450 (preferably in the $300-350 range) Sure I'd like a Bergantino...but that ain't gonna happen.

I trust you guys more than the peanut gallery of yahoos found at other popular bass sites (you know what/who I'm talking about!)

Help me out fellas!!!

Try and find an EV B-210. I had a couple of those a while back. Super sound without the need for a power hungry crossover and ear bleeding tweeter.

try the SWR Goliath Jr. III. sounds much better than the Workingmans series.

The Eden 2 x 10 is excellent IMO - goes great with an Eden 15!!

If you can find one, check out a Basson cab. I've got a 4 x 10 and it's killer.

24 1/4" x 18 1/4" x 33 1/4" and 110 lbs. for a 2-10!!! I thought Chris was looking for portability? The EVs I had were 24" x 17 1/2" x 16" and only 58 lbs. Stanley Clarke uses the 4-10 version of the EV.

One man's portability is another man's hernia.

I'd recommend an Acme Low B2, but whereas it's portable... it is very power hungry.

A better path to go by might be a getting a couple of used 1 x 12 Aguilars and ditching all other cabs altogether! The 1 x 12's handle 300 watts, come with or without a tweet and are about 40 lbs. Alternatively, there is a used 2 x 12 Aguilar currently on the Bay... has a tweet, handles 600 watts and goes about 70 lbs.

Not that I've had a lot of experience, but I'm pretty pleased with the Carvin 2x10 I use. The horn has a knob in the back so you can add as much extra treble as you need. I don't think the newer ones have that - I think they have an on/off or maybe a 3 way switch for the horn.

It weighs about 50 lbs - not terrible. Heck the 30 lb Behringer head I use sometimes seems heavier.

As for what's better a 4x10 or 2x10...never used a 4x10 but I imagine it would be all that much more. But compared to using 2 15" cabs, I prefer the 2x10. Cuts through better.

Second the Avatar 210 NEO recommendation...been using these for a year, great sound, nice power handling and very easy on the back. Continuous control of the horn on the back, some people have done filter mods to the horn crossover which they claim make the cabs sound spectacular, but I'm happy with mine as is (I use it with the matching 1-15").

I think Epifani might be a little pricey though.

For just a cab, I like the Messa Boogie Diesel 2X10, but they are a little heavy. I was impressed with the SWR Goliath III, but the Workingman series are junk. Carvin, like all their products look good on paper, but I've never heard one. I built a 2X10 combo using Emminence 10's per Jeff Rath's suggestion, and it sounds great with my SWR head.

2nd vote for Eden. Their new XST 2-10 goes down to 30hz and is clear as a bell.
