Hey, it's been a great weekend.
Thanks for the responses, thanks to Peter for posting those pics, & a HUGE congratulations to RIC. I'm sorry if some of you were unable to receive the pic files.
This guitar really sings, and as I've mentioned to some of you, the 360-12c63 knew it was a guitar right out of the box. It's alive.
I've been downloading song after song into it's heart...starting with lots of Beatles, Beach Boys and Byrds. It's a tone monster through a Fender solid state or Vox (my preference), and plays effortlessly - even fretting across the first fret. The set-up is perfect.
I'll answer some of your questions...
Yes, all photos are of the same guitar. The long leg of the trapeze measures 3-1/4".
For me, the fireglow coloring is perfect - very light cherry red, and the burst is feathered beautifully to a flawless piece of light wide grained maple with a little pink near the neck pick-up. Obviously the color varies depending upon lighting conditions. It looks better in 3D than in the pictures.
The s/n is 0503900... If I understand the system correctly, it's the 900th guitar made during the 3rd week of Jan. '05.
Did George ever do any mods?
The only future mod I may consider is having the wiring changed for ric-o-sound and buy the kit before it's discontinued. I currently don't have a ric-o-sound guitar - and that might be a fun option. I'm going to keep the 6 saddle bridge unless I eventually run across tuning problems - I'm picky about tuning issues...so far, no problem at all - intonation is also great.
While testing the electronics, the only problem I detected was with the Treble(bridge)tone control.
With the switch down in the bridge position, both neck controls rolled back and the bridge volume control fully opened, the bridge tone control decreases the volume just before I roll it to full open position...maybe there's a reason for this, or I'm doing something wrong.
Any opinions?
If I get the ric-o-sound mod, then I'll have that checked out.
The only thing I wish the guitar had is crushed pearl inlays. I know - George's didn't, and they can't get the stuff anymore. Maybe some of us should get a boat and travel to that little mysterious magical island - pick up a load of the stuff, carry it back here and "discover" it off Newport Beach. Finding a Ric w/ crushed pearl inlays will be my next challenge.
To those that placed your orders....your long wait is almost over. Hope you enjoy the 360-12c63.
