Just found out that I'll be in Petersburg, VA next week for business. Anything fun for a Midwest farm boy to do there?

I love Civil War history! Sometime, I want to tour the Civil War sites in Virginia and Pennsylvania. I've been by Antietam and Cold Harbor, but never got to visit the battlefields. Since I live in North Carolina, I hope to get the chance soon. I especially want to see Ford's Theatre and Gettysburg. The Lincoln Library in Springfield, Illinois would be a blast to me too!
I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again
Randy - the Lincoln Library is pretty special. It has 2 interactive theaters, large walk-through pieces of his log cabin and the white house, and currently there's a special section dedicated to the day his was assassinated. Comparing the day timeline of A. Lincoln with J.W. Booth - and the aftermath of the assassination. Little tidbit - Mary Surratt was the first woman executed in the U.S. for her role in the plot to kill Lincoln. It's worth a visit. In Springfield there is also Lincoln's tomb and his house. And just not far from Springfield is New Salem. The place where Lincoln lived as a bachelor for some time.
aaarrrggghhhh.....horseshoes...wiping drool off my chin. This is a local concoction that varies a little depending on what restautant. It is usually toast or some bread product with a hamburger patty or some other meat (ham, turkey, chicken) covered in french fries then smothered in cheese sauce served open-face style. A coronary on a plate! A Springfield must! Good to hear from you Lindsay!
