TRC Swap

Post by ric620 »

I have a JetGlo 4003 with the standard white pickguard and trc. I just ordered a new pickguard, but I'm not sure how I'd go about swapping the standard white TRC for a black one.

It usually looks "right" when the TRC and pickguard are the same color. "Blacked out" Jetglo's with the white binding and chrome hardware look great.

If you want to keep the original TRC, search eBay for a black one (or another white to swap), TRC's show up from time to time; but be prepared to pay a lot of money for one.

you can send yours into RIC for a black one with silver writing for $27 ($20 for the trc and $7 shipping) in the US.

email kenny in customer service. i'm in the middle of doing the same transaction.

Rickenbacker used to sell the trc without having to send yours in. I "backed-out" one of my JG in the late 80's or early 90's without a trade. It's nice to be able to go back to the original if needed. I understand why they might not do that anymore though.

Welcome Rikk. Yes those days are over. It is a swap and purchase arrangement these days to reduce, as much as possible, the passing off of Fakenbackers as the real deal.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I'm thinking of swapping my gold for a black one on my project, and swapping the gold pickguard for a black one and get more of a consistant feel. The idea has been in my head since Chris Pappas suggested it at the Columbus Confluence.

I dunno, maybe I don't need to change the TRC just cause I changed the pickguard.

I'm not too worried about keeping it 100% factory original, so I'm going do the swap with Ric.

Can someone give me Kenny's email?

We'll take a GENUINE plate in any condition, as long as it's recognizable as legitimate and constitutes at least 50% of the plate.

That's interesting John, sounds like you handle the TRC's like the gov't hadnles the money. I believe they will exchange bills based on the sames rules.
