I'm dying to try SOMETHING from the 200 series, whether it be a bass or a guitar.

Jeff, I'll stop posting in your threads. I always ruin em. Image

Just wondering.. how does the sound from those things compare to a 4001/4003?

After seeing Jeff's basses.. I really want a 2030 now!

There are 2 versions of the 2030 bass the 80s and 90s ... the 80s are brighter ... I think they have single coil pickups ... and the 90s have really hot humbuckers ... they are so hot that sometimes you can't run your volume at 10 ...

The 2030 is a different animal than the 4001/4003 basses ... it is more primitive and less sophisticated in looks and sound ... If you like metal or punk the 2030 is perfect ... I saw Joe Walsh playing a 200 series guitar and it rocked ... the massive maple body gives it a nice resonance ... I put a Kahler bridge on my 4-2-5 2030 basses and with the fat maple body they have as much or more sustain than my neck through 4003 basses ...

The 2030 sounds closer to a 4004L or a 4004CI sound than a 4003 ... perhaps a little Tbird like as well ... and a little p-bass like ...

I just like how it's a Ric and it has a simplistic body shape. I love the 4000 series body, but it gets kinda awkward feeling after a little while.

i'm sure the 4004L sound isn't that bad.

If you ever get one that you don't convert to a 5 string, tell me. I'll take it off your hands. Hell, I'll prolly take a 5'er too.. hehe.
