Are 381V69 Rics in Blueboy rare?
I never see them around. Does anyone own one? How many do you think were made?
Richard: Welcome to The Rickenbacker Forum. A great question. I would have to consider them rare but there are some out there for sale. I am not aware of how many were made. Perhaps John or Ben Hall will comment.

Me too, I don't like them at all!

Wim: I don't think that the Blue Boy colour was a tribute to Jim Reeves, but rather a return to a unique colour offered in Rickenbacker's history. I know John Hall will set me straight on this if I have overlooked the main purpose of reintroducing the BLue Boy finish.

For me, the addition of a gold guard and TRC really dresses this finish up.

Blue Boy is a bit hard to photograph as well Red Rob, but there is one example here.

Gold + Blueboy is a really nice combo. I've got a 370/12BB with a gold pickguard and it really sets it off nicely. I first saw it on a 660 I believe and i've bene hooked ever since.
I like the 381 and I really like Blueboy, but I don't know, with that finish, you just need to have a transparent finish, to bring out the beautiful figure in the wood. Though they do look nice in Jetglo.
I think Mike Parks has one for sale in Blueboy too.
