Since we're talking about Brian Hyland, here's my 2 cents- He recorded 3 of my songs in the late 80s, but nothing's come of them unfortunately. Like many artists of the 60s, he's had a hard time getting a record deal, though he sings his a*s off. He doubled the vocals on 2 of my 3 songs, and his phrasing was spot on w/ the previous track. I commented to his wife how great a 'double-tracker' he was, and she replied, 'Yeah, he's known for that." Brian has always been called 'reclusive', but was very encouraging and friendly to me as a writer. He still tours extensively. My fave of his is GYPSY WOMAN in the early 70s. Produced by his good friend Del Shannon.

Well, I'm like 10,000 other player/writer/producers here in the L.A. area. I've had a bit of success and a million missed opportunities. Had a couple of songs in films, a song on a compilation album alongside Merle, Cash, Waylon and some others in the 'legendary' club. I'm sure many of our 'posters' have better or equal credits, they just don't shoot off their mouths about it! Have a home studio where i often produce and play on songwriter CDs for $$. Am in several bands, most of which you've never heard of. I'm releasing my first CD around Xmas called YOU'LL FIND OUT ,much of which is slightly Beatle-ish country pop. There you go, Roy. Thanks for asking...

I have to tell you that back in my Hippie days, around 1968, I was driving my band's hearse home from college and picked up a hitchhiker. The guy got in, looked at the equipment, and said, "You in a band?" "Yeah, I answered."
He said, "Remember that band ? and the Mysterians?" "Sure," I replied.
"Well ... I'm question mark!"
I don't think it was Rudy, but what a choice for him to pretend to be.

Uh... what if it was him really, Dave?.. It seems to happen from time to time...
An ex-fellow student has once told me a story. She was in States, several years ago, she and her boyfriend were lunching in a street cafe, when some guy came, plugged his guitar in and started playing and singing, and some minutes on, she understood it was actually Bob Dylan. He then played for some time, plugged his guitar out and went away without a word. Could be a figment of her imagination, though, but i tend to believe people (too naive perhaps).

Steve,
Sheena posts to this forum from Russia.
Sheena I love reading your posts. You add a whole other dimension to our Rickenbacker/music world.

Throughout my lifetime, I have found Russia to be a rather mysterious place, largely due to the lack of information that I have about this country. What names I have known, have come and gone from the rather simple U.S.S.R.
I especially like Sheena's posts as they provide us with continued insight into Russia, its people, customs and even music to some limited extent. I would like to hear some Russian rock posted.
Sheena, your posts are 11 out of 10 in my books. There is a request waiting for you at Charlie's Tube Tech Forum.

Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Hey guys, don't beat me too hard for my crazy logic, i just thought if something could be "plugged in" then to get it unplugged one should "plug it out".
Eh, and could you please tell me how to say it right?
(actually sometimes my sentences in Russian cause lots of laughter too, that's just my 'trademark' or kind of... "and this woman got a job of an editor"
Peter: i promise there would be some Russian rock posted - tomorrow, at "General" section.

We had a German scientist working at South Pole one year...a really great guy, actually a cousin of Artie Tripp, Captain Beefheart's drummer. His English was very good, delivered with a very precise German accent. One day he came into the room where several of us were hanging out and asked,"Excuse me, but do you know where I can find some light bubbles?" Of course, he meant bulbs, but the more I thought about it, the less I could say he was 'wrong'. In fact, when I told the band (PW3) about it years later, they liked it so much that we named a song on our first CD "Light Bubble".
So go ahead, Sheena...plug it in, plug it out. It reminds me of one of Dan Ackroyd's 'Wild-n-Crazy Czech brothers' lines: "C'mon, everybody...let's get it out!"

I didn't get where I am today by being on time...
