What kind of amp do you use?

I use a Vox Valvetronix AD60VT.... I can get just about ANY sound I want with it. I usually use the AC15 or AC30 settings clean and chorused for the perfect jangle on my Rics; though there is a chorused boutique amp preset that I really like for my Ric 12-strings, too.

Lately I've been playing around with the "UK Blues" which I believe to be modelled after a 60's Marshall. I tend to go through phases where I play with a specific amp for awhile so I can get to know the sound it'll produce.
I'm just starting to replace the presets on it.

Patrick, the setting I like for 12-string Ric is 1.2, the one that the owner's manual calls "Mr. Clean." Turn your treble tone knob on your guitar back about a quarter turn, plug it in, and listen to the angels sing.... I play on a worship team, and this setting is great for hymns and Christmas carols.... also great for sweet love songs, LOL!

Two amps:
1967 Fender AA165 "blackface" Bassman in a combo cabinet with a single Weber California 15" (JBL clone)speaker. Clean when you need it, will crunch like an early Marshall, jangles and chimes with a Tele or Rickenbacker. The large speaker prevents icepickiness, and the combo will get paint-peeling loud.
1954 Fender 5C-3 Deluxe with Weber-reconed 1960 Jensen P-12R speaker. Nice darker Tweed sound, surprisingly chimey with the 330-12. Also has the icepick removed due to the mid-heavy tone stack.
These are as close to all-round amps as I've found. I add offboard reverb, delay, tremolo, and overdrive when called for.

Noel, it's actually Burgundyglo, the way the picture was taken just gave it that Red/Ruby look. Actually, when I bid on it on eBay I thought it was Ruby. Since it's a '79 I don't think that it wouldn't possible anyways.
Note the Rickenbacker maroon strap on it too.

Patrick, after talking about it here I got my 330/12 out last night and tuned it to drop-D and used that amp setting....it was heavenly. I played a very sweet and poignant love song that I wrote a couple of weeks ago when my hubby was away, and was amazed at how good it sounded--I wrote the song on my acoustic.

Ever since I got my 360/12v64 I've been thinking about getting a "proper" amp for it, and adapting that amp for use with my main guitars (Strats, a Tele, Les Paul Standard, and a Les Paul Special w/P-90's)... Obviously a Vox AC-30 would be an excellent choice tone-wise, but at my age and condition something that heavy is out of the question.
So I'm thinking of compromising and getting a Vox AD-50 (or whatever the exact model name is), but I don't know... read good and bad reviews of those.
Presently I own a '79 Fender Vibro Champ, a '74 Fender Princeton Reverb, a '97 Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, and an old '68 Univox U-305R.
The Univox needs major maintenance work so I don't plug it in at all anymore. But it used to be a great amp in its day - 15" Jensen, reverb & trem, Mullard tubes, etc. That one's on my "get it fixed one of these days" list.
All the Fenders are fine in all respects. Got a "love/don't particularly like" thing going on the the HRD though. I've changed tubes and used Yellowjackets in it for years and it's still real loud. Sounds great that way, but I currently live in an apartment so it only gets used at jams 2-3-4 times per year. Many times I've thought of selling or trading it in on something else, but then I'll take it to a jam and it'll sound absolutely great with all kinds of guitars so I've kept it so far. Since I got the Ric I've only used it once in a jam setting and it sounded great to me and everybody else there. Hard to decide on keeping it or not. Money isn't an object anymore, but I refuse to go through the process of buying and trying out a bunch of amps. Especially since I'm not in a band anymore.
On the other hand, the Vibro Champ and Princeton Reverb sound great here at home. Don't even miss the lack of reverb on the VC.
One thing I've never tried at all is the Ric through my POD 2.0, but that's connected to my recording gear (that I haven't used in months). I bet it'd sound really good through that AC-30 setting though...
