Birthday bliss....

Today (October 23rd) is my 54th(!!!!) birthday and what better way to start the celebrations than spend a couple of hours with some (not all) of my best mates?

I'll probably be a bit too 'under the weather' to risk it later in the day after a few 'quiet celebrations!!'

Hey Howard, I wish you a happy birthday! Incidentally, my (49th) birthday is 8 days from now, and I hope to spend some hours of it beating the tar out of my Rick basses - 9 in all!

Happy Birthday Howard. My wife has a birthday on the 24th. She would not like it if I tell the world her age but, any way here goes; she is a year older than you are.....

I just know that I am going to get a swat on the noggin for that one. I can sense it coming.

Every time I see a Vox amp I go through withdrawals. I sure miss my old girl.

I am happy to report I am unscathed. When I showed her Aitche's picture she did not scroll down to see my reply.

My wife did say something about Howard being very well preserved for his age. I quipped that he likes to imbibe Guinness. As she was walking out of the room she said he also has good taste in guitars.

So Howard it would seem that you have made a good impression. I did not show her the pics that you posted of yourself in the bath tub. That would have destroyed any thought that you are a somewhat normal musician. If there is such a thing?

I do not go into the guitar forums much.. seeing that I can't play a six stringer for anything... but now that I wandered in here I'm happy I did. Happy B-day Howard! We seem to be having a cookout today.. so it's a party for you.. hehe.

I'm not much of a bass player but I occasionally post in the bass section, since I do own a Ric 4001 bass. I have always been treated well there.

I only have my 4001.. my only bass.. I've tried guitar.. I can do the first guitar solo from "Comfortably Numb" but that's about it.. well that and "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun."

I'd rather play bass than guitar though.

Jeepers Nate,

If you can play the first guitar solo from "Comfortably Numb" you are quite a bit more advanced than a lot of so called guitarists that I see in music stores. Stick with it you may very well master both.

I play a lot of blues so playing bass in a blues progression is pretty easy. I look at bass players like Jack Bruce and just shake my head. After I listen to him play I really can't consider myself a bass player.
