Just throwing this out there to see what you "kids" think.....

What's your top 3 favorite "Beatle-penned" guitar solos from 63' to 65'???

Also, what's your least 3 favorite "Beatle-penned" guitar solos from 63'to 65'???

My favorite sixty-four-foot solo is definitely "You Can't Do That". The whole song gave me the chills at age 15 and still does over forty years later.

"Boys" shows almost a "live in concert" level of excitement, and "I Saw Her Standing There" is quite unique for its day, with a solo that is pure exuberance with nothing owed to repetition of scales or rock/blues tradition.

Least? "Bad Boy" seems as if somebody was angry at someone else and begrudgingly gave them a few notes just to go with the flow.

"Mr. Moonlight" is dreary, dreadful. Odd that they would haul around a Vox Continental while on tour, when no way could it possibly "sound like the record" on this one, which is what kids wanted in those days.

Is that a solo on "Money"?

What I've heard is it was a choice between "Mr. Moonlight" (yuck) and "Leave My Kitten Alone" for placement on that particular album, and someone thought the somewhat violent imagery in "Kitten" might harm the fabs reputation. So they included what many feel is the worst song on a Beatle album.

I'm actually kind of surprised that 'Bad Boy' did so poorly amongst you guys... I've always enjoyed that solo, especially the bit between 1:32-1:37. That's one of the signature Tennessean sounds to me...

The "I'm Down" solo starts out as Carl Perkins, progresses through a Neil Young single string almost-whammy bar workout, then goes back to Carl. Pretty cool. I always liked "Not A Second Time," although it's really a piano/bass solo. Very understated. "Taxman," Anyone?

Taxman would be a great one, but Revolver was 66

. If we're going up through 66, then "And Your Bird Can Sing" probably takes the top spot for me...
