Did I meet my objective?

Post by marc61 »

I tried to create a bass similiar to the CS, but with one pickup. Here is a side by side comparison:

You're not allowed to ask about the sound. Those at the fest will attest to it's quality.

Hipshot bridge? I can't really tell. Other than that & the later 4000 pickguard & the top edges of the horsey surround they're identical. Nice color match. Was it difficult to duplicate?
More importantly, how does that baby sound?

Wow! That's pretty close. Love it.

The CS has the longer headstock thinner horns.. and what Kevin said.. but other than that.. good job!

How do you like the Hipshot? There's been mixed reports about string height problems on some basses. I'm thinking of getting one after Christmas. They do look good. I may be imagining it, but I think my 4000's tail is raising a little more than it was. I put Fender Stainless RW's on it, might have to switch to lower tension strings.

Seriously...The look and sound is what I wanted, didn't anticipate the weight however..with the hipshot bridge and the horseshoe... not to mentio the bass was a bit heavy to begin with.. she weighs a ton...

Sorry.. forgot to answer questions and comments...

Nate, I would say the real CS is "sexier" and mine more "muscle"

Kevin.. the luthier who helped me with this complained about the string height.. I think the action is great. It has rotos on it...

Looks horrible. Terrible job. I'd be glad to take it off your hands.
