Maybe the other thing here is that Monty was never done on this type of bass. My bet is the Hall's would have the best explanation of what went wrong here.

I don't hate it. Just sorry Ken's not happy

This bass might actually be a better comparison of color as it's unbound....

I'm with Paul and Andy. I think it looks nice, although it is darker at the edges. A closeup of the body would show more detail.
It would take quite a long time for some other finisher to get the spray technique right to finish it exactly like the RIC Monty Brown. It would probably be a tougher learning process than at RIC. A unique brown burst is what made Monty Brown so special.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

The picture that Marc posted is the same pic both Mike Dolan and I said was too dark around the edges.I asked him the other day before sending it back "its not black around the edges is it"he said no when I got it its black around the edges.I want Dolan, to refund my money and I will do it myself.......Ps everytime I called asking for pics to make sure the color was right,he acted like I was bugging him.

I agree with Paul, based on what I see in this picture. Granted, the photo does not reveal the details of the burst. Do you have a closer shot?

If you see it in person it would have been OK if they had not made so many passes with the brown,it looks as dark as a fender sunburst on the outsides.Matter of fact thats how fenders are done.He knew what I wanted I was anal about it he just thought he could pass it off on me.He even told me his perception of the color and his painters were different???

Dolan does not do the refinishing he has a painter. He told me hes just the middle man when I spoke with him yesterday.Way to pass the buck,I wasn't dealing with his painter.

PLUS THEY USED MY TRC AS TARGET PRACTICE.it had paint chips all over it!!!!

I really like the "fender burst." Much prefer it to the monty browns I have seen. I would die for a 4003 with that finish ken... but then I do understand your frustration.

Ken, I like to see in person, but it looks not to bad from the photo's.

I used Jack's Guitar Re-finisher on some of my old Strat's. Jack is very good on burst work. Dale F. is also just as good, (if you were so inclined to start over).

I finally talked with Mike, he said his painter sprayed it too dark and he didnt feel like redoing it.HE IS REFUNDING MY MONEY!

Mike said if he did it it would have come out fine.I told him thats what were paying for,for him to paint it.

I'm no fan of 'Zuma Brown, you know that, but it looks pretty good, though... even if it's not to Ric specs. Ah well, least it's ended half-"well" for ya.
