I Think a remake of the 68 4001 would be the killer ! Also incorperating some 4003 features such as the truss rods and frets but with the thinner 60's neck profile. How sweet would that Be !
im getting to old for this ****

Why is it that I *always* hear about Rickenbacker's ****** customer service everywhere I look? I mean, when I was looking to get one, that's all anyone said: "Just hope you don't have any problems with it because the company doesn't deal well with customers . . ."

Obviously, I've had no problems, so I haven't had to call anyone up, but from these forums, I've gotten an entirely different perspective. It seems everyone here has had a *great* experience with customer service. I wonder why the discrepancy. Right now, I'm inclined to believe that they're very good in dealing with customers, because the people who said that they weren't also said that 4003 basses are notorious for their neck problems, which is quite stupid, considering that the 4003 was made initially, I believe, to get rid of said neck problems way back in the 80s, and mine has had ZERO problems with anything.

Still, it's weird . . . why do I keep reading about bad customer service elsewhere?

Robert - I think that people are more likely to vent about bad service than describe good service they may have received. Just look at Ken's postings about his refinished V63! Around here you'll see folks giving RIC credit for good service, but "out there" people probably only hear mostly about the bad experiences.

No Steve, thats untrue, when Mark Arnquest, did work on my 67 4001
I was elated,I praised him up and down and gave him and still give him the credit he deserves.

Some people take great pride in what they do they ensure everything is correct before returning it to you.

He took the time to not only send pics of the process almost daily ,He also did work that was not required of him that I did not ask of him.VERY IMPRESSIVE.

By taking pics of everything was his stage, his arena and he was performing. what a wonderful performance it was.

Ken - as I stated above, the members of this forum are quick to give credit where it's due. I was merely using your experience with Mr. Dolan as an example where a negative experience provokes a much stronger response than a positive experience. Not a dig at you - just on observation on human nature, (as I see it).

Rickenbacker has been nothing but very good to me. I had a 4001CS which had to go back to them 2 TIMES because the finish was breaking off by the tailpiece. It was refinished the first time; the second time, they removed the hardware and installed it on a brand-new body. They didn't charge a cent for shipping either time, and when I called the factory for "progress reports," I received straight-up answers. The dealer I purchased it from (Russo Music, Trenton, NJ) was very helpful in facilitating the whole process. The people at Rickenbacker give a whole new meaning to customer service.

Dream machine? How about a 4001C64 5-string with a horseshoe pickup and 3/4" string spacing?
