Not defending anyone, but although the supposed date of the bass is late for Azureglo, the photos appear to be that dark Azureglo we see occasionally. Could it be a refin? It looks too dark to be Midnight which should be reflecting more light due to its metallic undercoat. Just my 1/50 of a buck.

I'll never forget in 1987 I was looking for my first Ric and saw a '75 Azureglo 4001 going for £450.00....would be worth treble that now on these shores.
I wasn't sure whether I really liked the colour that much so I ended up getting a '74 Mapleglo ,mainly because it was £50.00 cheaper....
Although you can't go wrong with goold old Mapleglo I have since seen the error of my judgement as I now think Azureglo looks gorgeous.

This was his reply to my question:
"But this one IS azureglow. Perhaps someone changed the number plate, or a special order, or your reference book is incorrect. It is what it is. AZUREGLOW!!!!! I know the difference. It is easy to see, unless one is colorblind. You can tout your crazy ref books all you want, but this one is azureglow, no doubt about it."

"Here he is, come to pay homage to the Rickenbacker display!" (Said to me by owner Bruce at the "Great House of Guitars" in Rochester, NY)
That jackass (Emperor) has misrepresented his instruments before. He had a TURQUOISE guitar that he said was a custom color and NOT TURQUOISE. He was adamant about it. It was like saying that JG was WHITE. I don't care what he is selling, i wouldn't buy. ESPECIALLY after his comment to Jeff Rath. What a pinhead........

All that forwarding Ken, my head is spinning now! Also the colour doesn't look anything like my midnight blue 620/12.

Fact remains that AG wasn't made in '91. Period. So we have...A) a color-blind Emperor, (not likely) B) a Rick with a bogus jackplate, or C) something being sold by a guy who says it is AG in the hopes of getting more money for it. I vote C. Certainly not AG with black trim????

after I rewired and replaced the neck pickup it became just about the sweetest sounding 70s ric bass that I ever played ... it had a 70s high gain treble pickup 8kohms, and a 7.4k ohms toaster and all of the pots that I put in were 250k ohms ... since a stock ric has 500k ohm tone pots this one was a little sweeter than most ... if I played 4 string basses I would have snatched it up ... and ya that is a low quality picture with a little bit of color shift ...
and you are right ... Ric did not make azureglo in 1991 and they did not make a black trim azureglo ... and the emperor's lying is a proven fact ...
