Springsteen's Tele in "High Fidelity"?

In The John Cusack film "High Fidelity" there is fantasy sequence in which Cusak,after cueing the needle on Springsteen's "The River" LP has a conversation with with "The Boss" who is sitting in front of a big amplifier playing a Butterscotch Blonde Telecaster.I was wondering if any of you guys and gals had a DVD or VHS tape of that film and could look at that scene and tell me which Telecaster he is playing in that scene.I don't think it was his Esquire.It looked like a new guitar either a 52 reissue or an American Deluxe Ash.Anyway if someone could look at the film and give me a definitive answer I would appreciate it.

On a side note, I have seen pictures of a Telecaster 12 string guitar. Was that a special one-off made for him, or a proto guitar, or something made by a private luthier? Any information and pictures would be appreciated. (Sorry if this hijacks the thread)

Scoob, Fender put out a batch of Tele 12s some years back -and they sold for a song! I have lamented not scooping one up.

Musician's Friend was running a sweet deal on them too.

It's a new one, doesn't have a mark on it...The Esquire would be immediately recognizable.

Thanks Steve,It looks like either a 52'Reissue or an American Deluxe Ash.The Deluxe Ash has Abalone fret markers and a 6 saddle bridge.The 52' has a bridge with 3 brass saddles and the fret markers are black.I couldn't tell from the photos which it is.Could you?

Do either of them have black pickups? The PU's in that one look like they have black plastic covers on them. I think from what you wrote that it is a '52 reissue. The headstock looks like the Esquire headstock also.

Yep,the Esquire is a single pickup model but I think this is a tele either the 52' reissue

could be another model to as the neck pickups on both of those are silver "lipstick" style

The Esquire is indeed a single pick-up model but many older examples were unwisely converted to dual pick-ups. I believe most Esquires were routed for a fingerboard pick-up, so the modification was relatively easy to do. This of course hurts the value of these collectable old Fender guitars.

Does anyone on the forum have a 12 String Telecaster? How do they sound compared to a Rickenbacker. How do they feel? Pictures?
