I noticed that Paul McCartney used a wrap-around grip, possibly thumbing the E string quite a bit. The Hofner neck is really narrow, but deeper than a Rick at the nut, easy to wrap the thumb around if you're so inclined.

Just noticed that my callouses are on the tips - huh, never thought about it - go figure

on my left hand I use my ring finger very little ... the other 3 fingers do 95% of the work ...
