Congratulations Chris.
I've said before and I believe that the 4002 was a bass ahead of it's time.
I actually need a 4002 to complete my run.
I have a 4000,4001....4003's are always for sale....I also have a 4004 and 4005.
I type this post with respectful jealousy to those who own this vastly underrated bass guitar.

Sean :The original tailpiece will be restored eventually. I replaced it back in 1980 because the E saddle would not move back far enough to get proper intonation. It is here in a box somewhere. It is the same as what comes on the 4001/3.
Sorry Brian. I could not resist. Yes, I recall you really enjoyed the Blackstar at Columbus.

No one knows the 4002 production totals. All JH has ever said publicly is that they are "rare as hens teeth". We do know that there are about 50 Shadows and that the forum accounts for what, 14 of them? One pops up on the bay about every month. There are only 3 or 4 4002s on the forum. In the last 2 years there have only been 2 on the bay. Neither was completely original. If the frequency is any indicator, there would be fewer 4002s than Shadows. Only one of the 38 built Rednecks has surfaced on the bay and I think there is only 1 here on the forum. Can we conclude then that there are between 38 and 50 4002s? Maybe. I suspect that the real number is not far off. I have seen only 2 (counting my own) in person in 25 years.
