Is there not a certain vintage markup so to speak added to older models in good shape. I thought it was a decent price for that bass. The emperor however, and definately GC are nuts on those things, and they keep relisting at the same price for weeks straight. I thought about that 4000 if they would drop the price a few hundred, but it seems they have lost thier mind. they have 78's for some 2500+ in the same or worse shape than the aformentioned bass.

I emailed GC last week to ask them if they had gone completely mad with their ridiculous prices on the 3 Ricks they have priced over $2500. Told them they would never sell at those prices. Never got a response.

If you want to know what they paid for any of the instruments they have up, let me know.

I e-mailed a GCrep and told him the retail value of his over priced auction was about 1/3 of the price he was asking ... his answer was "well then don't bid on it" ... that was good advice ...

GC auctions are a joke , I've never seen a single bid on any of them.

I think their pricing is, in some way, an attempt to get back at RIC for pulling the plug on them by having some kind of kind of effect on the market.

The walnut is really a nice shade of brown burst. The '76 4001 autumnglo I once had was too dark at the edges. However seeing the worn off areas of this bass I wonder how the frets look like. for that no good pic is there. So the price is not tempting...
