Ken, where did you get the scooped out P/U surround? I really need one of those for my 72' as the strings hit the standard one when I 'go off on one'! Thanks, Bob

She's a beaut, Ken. Does this mean that M.D. gets to keep his teeth after all?

I have a '98 v63 jetglo that looks kinda similar. I have the 'shoe's off, a 70's pickup surround and gold lucite guard and TRC. Sort of a McCartney bass in Lennon's colors! Its also a beaut, but I don't have any photos I can post.

Your grab bar is a nice touch as is the black nut, the trimmed tuner bushings and the shaved TRC. Me likey. I've thought about doing a re-fin on one of my 4003S's to look just like that(but I haven't decided between that and SeaGreen) Did you get the idea for this one from the 6-string Rick body on the cover page of this forum? I think I did!

I gotta admit, I understand why you'd be ticked getting that paint job back. However, with the gold guard, it sure does look sweet. I think it sets better than a regular autum/walnut/rootbeer glo would have.

Ken that looks really sharp... it makes the dark bust really stand out!

John Fay... that's really cool looking... I love those old 4000's and was thinking of doing something like that.. what's the story of that bass? Is that a newer bass made to look like an old 4000?

John's bass brings up an interesting idea. Can a regular 4003S model be doctored up to look like an old 4000 with just a custom pickguard? Hmmm the wheels are spinning.

Ted, what ever happened to that flamey rebuild you were doing for someone where you had to remove the body wings, how did it turn out?

Wes-

About the 4003S being doctored to look like a 50's 4000. Its a slightly different body shape, and the headstock on the old 4000's looks bigger also. I guess it could be done, but IMHO the 4003S looks fine the way it is and is a legitimately cool example of a Rick bass as is!

Don't be modding 4003S!

They're the last carnation of the S series... special basses! You'll regret it!
