John, some years back someone had given me a Binson Echorec, which worked the same way. Unfortunately all the insulation on the coax cables started to disintegrate, and it never worked.

The little oil can assembly with its electrostatic electronics was purchased from a company named Tel-Ray Electronics. Several instrument companies tried to make it work and integrate them into their amps but most didn't quite find the right combination of (tube) electronics to go around it.

I misspoke calling the can unit the Ek-O-Sound- that was the amp above with a tape loop type unit.

The electrostatic unit came either as a self-contained unit or in the Supersonic B amps with the suffix "E".

This seems to be a color that varies greatly. This is from 1984.

Are you sure that is not a re-fin? Unless the color is off on the pic, I am seeing a lot of red.

I bought this new in 1984 as a special order. The color IS slightly off. There is no red in it. This picture is a little better.

Pretty bass! In that picture it looks more like Monty. The variations are mostly due to the technique of the sprayer. There may also be slight color differences between batches.

Rick had that bass at the fest, it's one of the wildest Rickenbacker basses I've ever seen. Very cool.
