the 4003s5 and the 4004CII5 and the 2030 and the 4004 all have 15k ohm pickups ... this makes for HOT output ...

Has the screws, no pullup, pickup height is nothing unusual. Way, way hotter than my other two s5's...the only difference I can see easily is the fact that there isn't the bridge pickup cover on the new one. Can't imagine that would make much of a difference, though...I've played others without the cover and not noticed much difference.

I'll take off the guard in a few days and see if anything looks hot-rodded under there. The pickguard screws don't look like they've been messed with much, though.

Is it newer than your other two S/5's? It's possible that the output of the newer pickups is hotter than the older ones.

My 5'er is a 2002 and it has hot pickups. Not nearly as hot as my Blackstar (89) or Tuxedo(87) though.

Could be. I can't complain. My 5'er is pretty ballsy but my two microdot neck Ricks are just plain hot.
