I bought my grand-niece a 330 Jetglo LH when she was only 8 or 9. But then, I could afford to do that. I know how much easier it was for me to learn on my 1967 ES-335TDC compared with the General Electric Guitarmate Strat-clone I started with when I was just learning.

If I spent that much money on my 7 year old I'd be in divorce court quicker than my son could learn the rif to Smoke on the Water ;-)

I know where you're coming from, Rikk.

I actually got the 330 JG LH VP (it also had vintage pickups!) for around $750-$850 (I don't remember the exact amount off the top of my head). The ES-335TDC was $350 back in 1969; I still have it, too.

I always recommend that the parents go with the child's natural tendency. Ask the child to show you how they play 'air' guitar, and you have your answer.

Yes, left handed instruments are harder to find, but it is no where near as bad as it used to be.
