4001C64 lefty and 4001C64S
Anybody know the precise difference between 4001C64 for lefties and 4001C64S? Just a guess is welcom. Thanks.

Although no specs have been listed yet for the 4001C64S, I know that this guitar will be a fairly close knock-off of the '70s Wings era bass, minus the zero fret. No horse-shoe pick-up, later style bridge/tail-piece, sanded out body fininshed in satin instead of Ric high-gloss super glue, different name-plate (but reversed headstock like the 4001C64), etc.
A pretty cool bass to say the least.

Either model sounds really cool to me until you get to that reversed headstock!
I still don't understand why so much effort was put into recreating a 1964 version of the 4001s(exact pickups, finish, tuners, etc.) and then putting a reversed headstock on it that was not even available in 1964. Even right-handed models will have this silly reversed headstock...
But I guess Rick's intent is to issue a "McCartney" bass, like the "Harrison" and "Lennon" models that make up the rest of the C series. I sure would love to have one that was a really good and true reissue of a 1964 model!

"This is the big one, Elizabeth, I'm coming to join ya, honey!"
In the 'olden days', if you made a lefty Rickenbacker, you just flipped a right-handed neck blank(the reason for the upside-down headstock, as we all know) then applied the dot markers on the neck binding (which in a way made it uniquely left-handed at that point)...that is why the guitars looked odd...they were pointing the opposite direction!!! In a way I find it somewhat ironic that RIC is trying to make a right-handed instrument look left-handed
