So, I take it that thing spins so he can go from neck to neck? Does he do alternate tunings or does it just give him 4 necks to put out of tune before the roadie has to hand him a fresh guitar?

He plays (taps) with both hands simultaneously on different necks, hence the dampers on the fretboard.
Kinda a curiousity, after watching him do it for 10 minutes, I was like, yeah, now play something tasteful.

After I posted my question I started to wonder about the dampers. Who else does that two handed thing with opposed necks? I know I have seen that before.

Steve Vai did something similar on the David Lee Roth live show. He had a pink guitar that had several necks.

He was rather rough on the back of it, though...

Vai's work on the first 2 DLR LPs was great. It's really the only stuff by him I can stomach.

I saw this metal band once years ago and the bass player had the zz top thing going on . he was wearing this harness thing with a steel rotating shaft sticking out of it for the bass to hook to . But the really sad part of this story is he was playing a 59 precision with a big hole drilled right through the body for the shaft to go into ! I wept for days .

I'm taking a shot at this Autumn/Walnutglo. If I win I'll replace the neck p/u with a new toaster. I think it's a great sounding mod on 70's Rics.

That's a bass you might have to overpay for, but worth it to do so.

Does anyone think that maybe this topic is the reason for such a high price for a caseless 4001, or is $1,275.00 a fair price for a Walnut?
I'm not saying it's not a sweet looking bass, and must obviously be worth that price to someone, but couldn't we have saved someone(possibly a fellow forumite) some cash if we just kept a bit more quiet?
