650 versatility!
I am absolutely groovin' with my 650 Dakota! FOr instance, tomorrow AM at church we are starting with a pop arrangement I came up with for an old hymn that sounds like an Edge meets the Byrds chime with a droning D chord. I am using the AC-30 model on my POD & my Dakota sounds beautiful clear & clean. The next song is a modern praise tune that requires a heavy overdriven rhythm which the Dakota simply excels at with a Bluesbreaker model. After that is a beautiful Glenn Kaiser tune which means clean again. Point is: these Rick HBs can do just about everything tone-wise...except quack like my Strat which I don't want it to do...that's what my Strat is for. And creamy slide?? Oh yeah...it sure does that too!
Man I am loving this Rick! It sounds like nothing else...yet it can sound like a LP when I need it to. These are some seriously sweet Rickenbuckers!
Just wanted to share...I'm still in the "afterglow" stage!

"Surrender" is my absolute favorite Glenn Kaiser praise song--it is one of the first songs I learned to play on guitar. His second praise album is "Throw Down Your Crowns."
I bet your worship team sounds great with your new Ric! I know that when I play my Rics on the worship team that I am giving the very best I can offer for God's glory....

I have listened to "All My Days" & "Throw Down Your Crowns" literally hundreds of times. GK is extremely versatile...I love his blues as much as his praise music.
The Ric does sound great in the praise team mix. We will have a chance to record soon, Lord willing, so I'll be able to get the Ric & my Strat on a CD for God's glory!
Now that excites me!

Oh Oh. I love "Surrender" we may be starting a trend here.
Congrats on the 650D Mark. I like the small body Rics too. I play my 350JG a lot.

Hi Melissa,
I actually don't get much of a chance with my work and other things going on in my life to listen to very much music. So I have not heard that album. I take it that it's pretty good stuff?
I'll have to look into it.

It's now officially on my list of things to do.
However, I must own up to the fact that I have a list that stretches into next year and beyond.
LOL

Agreed Melissa...the Ampendectomy album does have a bluesey feel to it...and GK (& Wendi) sing with passion. It is great.
Have you heard his acoustic blues albums with Darrel Mansfield? They jam tremendously.
I also like the GKB stuff, rocklin' electric blues! Come to think of it, I like everything he puts out...REZ is my least favorite aspect of his playing/recording output. I just love the praise/blues the most...did you check out the soul album he did a few years back? "You Made The Difference In Me" is pure Motown with some great guitar licks too.
