Okay guys. Tell me what ya think. I think I posted the link on here once before. But you know. I liked it at 1st but said the price was a little high. ITs been on there forever so I decided that I wana go check it out in person. If i can talk the parents into it. Might as well see how it looks to you guys before I bring the topic up to the folks tho. I just want one so bad. Im sick of putting it off. Image

Great bass in a great color. The price is a bit high but if it trips your trigger, there are no rules. Try to negotiate it down if you can. If it helps, in a few years that price will seem VERY small.

Get it. I thought what I payed for my '76 was a little high.. I payed $950.. but I love it, so I think it was worth it. (I hit the BIN button on ebay.) $1600 is a lot.. but that bass (Azureglo?) is beautiful. You will not regret it. My 4001 is the best bass I've played. Try and ask to lower the price. Still.. that'll blow away your Deans... least that what happened to me. I tried not to touch my Dean Edge 5 string after that. It was wall art. My other friends love the 5'er, but my Rick blew it away. Although I do miss having a purple bass. Image

You get it, you'll join the club. Plus we'll answer any questions you have about it.

Good luck bro. Image

About 15 years ago I paid $750 for my 4080. It really seemed like a lot at the time (and was). I imagine I would have more than a few eager takers if I offered it at that price today. Image

Do it. Go in, play it, haggle, and then buy it. It's gorgeous!

I'm with Bobcat,but-I'd act nonchalant about things,
non-commital.Play some other bass's for awhile then kinda look over at the Rickenbacker and act like "Hey thats pretty nice. Can I plug it in?".Sometimes
the best deals are cut to those whom have the better poker face.Don't show wood.Tell them it's nice but a little out of line numberwise for what it is.blahblahblah.I got an allmost mint '76 jazz bass that way years ago. It's not mint anymore but I knocked $200.00 off of the asking price.I don't think I could part with it now as it's one of the better Fenders of that era.
Good luck,It's really nice looking.

Go for it Jacob, I have a 80' Azureglo, and if I had to keep just one fretted bass it would be that one. I know it's a question of luck with Rics as they are hand made, but my 80' plays and sounds better than any of my other six Rics.

But..... play your best poker hand...

Im gonna actually try to ask Chip to go up with me. He knows more about it all then me. Let him do all the work haha.

Chip got one of his new for 500... in the 70s. I forgot what year it is actually... but its a 70s 4001 jetglo. Its probly my favorite bass I ever played. I cant put it down when I get in it my hands. Thin neck and the frets are just awesome. The whole thing just feels so great. He says its the best ric he ever played. I could see why. Its just ehh. Great.

I got my 75 white 4001 for $500 in 1994- who knows what it will go for now (or in another 10 years)

Jump on it, it looks about 8.5+ out of 10

I got my '68 for $400 in 1992, and that was tough for me. I'd say I made the right decision. But yeah, $1500 is on the high side for current prices.
