What a stroke of luck! My Mando was falling apart & I thought that the chances of getting a Ric mando was nil....then this. It was fellow forumite Dave Pascoes & I missed it when it was in the for sale topic. Luckily, Mike Smith was on the ball & bought it & then allowed me to twist his arm. A big thankyou to both Dave & Mike.
& YES, not only does it look great, but it plays & sounds fantastic too!
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.
Rick Mandos are KILLER! I never played a better mandolin in my life, whether it be electric or acoustic, Not to mention you've got one hell of a rare and unique piece!
Being fireglo was just a very happy coincidence, as I know these are so rare, especially in the UK, that I would have had any colour (glad I ended up with FG though...it's a beautiful dark '98 FG). If Mike Smith didn't keep his eyes open for the rarer & unusual Rics, then the UK would be a poorer place!
Steve...I think I'll leave it with just the one pickup.
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.
Well done Tony! It's a beaut. 3 pick ups would be nice - with a McGuinn circuit?? And yes - Mike Smith finds some great stuff for us poor old UK Rick addicts. Keep up the good work Mike!
I think everyone at MARC Day, had fun with my monti brown one. They are great sounding with the V.P.
BTW, I understand from the guy I purchased it from, that this one was a NAMM guitar. I think there may be a tag on it if you lift the pick guard. I never looked.
The sweetest li'l MB 5002, just resting its tiny head before its long journey to a new owner's arms...
