New Film On CHAPMAN For 2006
Yeah, that bothers me to, when producers decide to amalgamate characters, or create ones in order to advance the narrative. Nonetheless, all historically-based films are fiction, not documentaries. The History Channel plays movies such as Braveheart and Gladiator as though they were documentaries...not even close. Ignoring all the glaring historical inaccuracies (longbows in Gladiator, for instance), as I rambled on about above, these films are someone's perception of historical events, nothing more.
Hitler was an artist, but he also dabbled in architecture...which led to the line that the world would have been better off with another bad architect.

How much!?!
I don't know.. the genocide was terrible, but Hiter was a military genius. He had everything going his way UNTIL he attacked the Russia...
I respect the History Channel. They played "Band of Brothers".. I watched that every day. I even stayed up extra late on a school night because I didn't want to miss it. That HBO miniseries was the best thing the History Channel ever played. Even the History Channel's original movies are inaccurate. "Killing Hitler"? Pfft! That channel's programming does bother me.. they can't go though one day without mentioning Hitler.. I swear! I hardly watch it anymore. When I did I had higher marks in my history class.
I hope this chapman movie bombs... and I think Lindsay is a bad actress. She's a bad actress and a bad singer. I prefer Ashlee Simpson.
Ash has a plus in the vocal department. She's a bit whiney, but better than Lohan. I'm not so sure about her acting though.. her first 'starring' film bombed and she had a mini part in "The Hot Chick"... *shudders*.

Nate... this is far from the place to debate Hitler, but he wasn't the military genius for which you give him credit. His HUGE bold agressiveness, utter ruthlessness and lack of morality, combined with tragically wimpy appeasement from the likes of Britain's Chamberlain allowed him dramatic and early gains in Europe. If he were the genius you say, he would have listened to his generals and (a) not attacked to the east, and (b) not tried to punish the British civilian population (ie 'the blitz') thereby giving the RAF time to regroup and reform and fight back. Add that to his habit of excecuting those miltiary leaders who he percieved as "failures" (Rommel comes to mind), and his BIGTIME blunders at D-Day itself and the word "genius" is not one that applies. Especially toward the end of the war he was severely drug addicted and likely nuttier than a fruitcake.
He was, however, a powerful speaker and lots of people (obviously) responded to his hateful rhetoric. The one interesting story I have is that my stepmother (God rest her soul) was one of the last foreign correspondants (for TIME Inc) in Germany before the war started. She had seen Hitler speak on a couple of occasions and she said that the energy in those large arenas was ELECTRIC.... she admitted that part of her was temorarily caught up in the excitement and it was only the sane and logical part of her that stopped her from "seig heiling" along with the masses. She had some interesting stories to tell thats for sure. Once (back in the early 70s) my sisters boyfriend was moaning about the sad state of affairs in the country and how the US government (and the USA itself) was so evil as to be similar to that of pre-war Germany. Well, let me tell you that THIS bit of lunacy didn't sit well with the woman who had actually BEEN THERE. My stepmom.... all 98 pounds of her dripping wet.... nearly ripped this lumberjack of boyfriend a new a**hole. The confrontation obviously didn't come to blows but if it had, my money would have been on the chick. I'll never forget it... and I bet that old boyfriend hasn't either.

Hitler was indeed no military genius...military geniuses routinely rise past the rank of corporal.
What he had was the most dedicated and efficient weapons building machinery and the best General Staff in history...there were a few really bright boys in there...especially the ones who tried to assassinate him when they figured out he was nuts...
And of course, 'Triumph Of The Will!!!'....
Not to change the subject (as it doesn't even feel like a subject change to me), around the White House, they call Carl Rove "The Architect".
I bet he can't draw people, either...
The 'USA itself' has never been evil, nor has the nation we call 'Germany'...their governments are another matter, however...

I didn't get where I am today by being on time...
Ah, young Nate...guitars, not guns, my son! Focus on your last name and make it your mantra...
The only German advancement made during WWII that was worth a damn was a thing called the 'people's car'...affordable for nearly everyone and fixable in one's own driveway. What a concept! We'll never see anything like it again...
On the subject of Ashlee Simpson...don't be embarrassed, dude...she seems like a fine young woman (or is that spelled 'foin'?)...as far as I can tell, the only thing wrong with her is her voice...

OK I love my last name.. I feel upset if I hurt ANYTHING! I try not to kill bugs.. I pick them up and put them outside. Only time I kill them is when they're a threat to me. If I hit my siblings in a fit of rage.. well I feel awful after that. Even causing emotional pain.. I get depressed if I know it's because of me. I ordered a custom bass and asked for peace sign inlays.. he said those were too complicated.. so I asked to have a big one on the headstock.
Yeah.. those cars are great. the only bad this is that 'punch bug game'. When you see a beetle you punch the person next to you. What a fun game... plenty of brusies from that...
Ash's voice has gotten better. I bought her second album the other day and her voice now blows away he voice on her first album.. but it's pretty whiney now. And a couple of her songs are so pop it's disgusting, but the rest of the album makes up fer it. I could go on and on.. but I'll stop now.

Nate... if you're ever in DC, be sure to visit the Holocost Museum (and leave the WHOLE day to do it). If you are drunk, that'll sober you up quick. If you're not, you'll want to be afterwords. To say it's "powerful" is the understatement of the day.... kinda like saying that Elvis had a "decent voice", or that the Beatles were a "pretty good" band.... if ya catch my drift.
... oh, and a couple of days later after your tears have stopped flowing, be sure to visit the Air and Space Museum. Great stuff.

Heh.. I cried during the camp episode of "Band of Brothers".. I don't think I could take a museum.
I'm not pro Hitler.. I just respect him a little more. Everyone hates him.. sure he's evil, but he's human. I respect people, no matter what they did.
P.S. Not a Nazi!

>>sure he's evil, but he's human
yup... now THERE's a statement that has depth. As a matter of fact it's the basis of many religions.... ie: that we all contain both good and evil.... God or Devil... or however you want to put it.
>>>I respect people, no matter what they did.
hmmmm..... why? What if ALL they did was evil? Why does that earn your respect? Simply being born aint no great achievement... everybody does it.

Ok scratch that statement then... I can't think of a reason. *To self* 'Way to wreck your credibility, Nate!'
Well, now .. I just ruined what I should say because of something typed too fast. Pfft.
Hitler was a very powerful and captivating speaker. I've seen a couple of his speeches on TV (It was a pain reading them) and the way he got into it was impressive. They way the audience got into it was amazing. The cheers, the flowers, the applause. But he was also insane. To quote Dr Hibbert from 'The Simpsons'.
"He has the evil gene. Hitler had it, Walt Disney had it, and Freddy Quimby has it."
Heheh.
His insanity was just too much. What's with his anti-semitism? I mean, what's wrong with Jews? Absolutely nothing. He thought they were evil. They're not.
Now I'm not very good at debating (insert joke here) but I respect the man. I don't know why. All of the hate toward him seems to be interesting. One man's name puts fear and anger into people. That name gives images of death and war. That moustache. It all goes towards Hitler. That demands respect. Infamous for sure.

My (not so) humble advice is that you examine what you mean by "respect" and to whom you think it's deserved. Theres a big difference between respect or even admiration on the one hand and simple recognition that the ******* had a huge impact on civilization on the other.
Besides, Hitler never played a Ric.
