And This One Didn't Get Away Either!

Post by rick_ovic »

Look what the nice Fedex man brought me today...a 1959 Capri 335 in Mapleglo. Image

I'm a bit embarrassed to show this beauty off after telling everyone about the 335F earlier this week. Image

I've been after a Capri for ages and bought this about three weeks ago. My RAS was supposed to end with the Capri...and then Fatboy came along. The Capri arrived at work today, safe and sound after spending the last few days boxed up and inside Fedex planes.

I'm not crazy on the Kaufmann vibrato at this point....I can now understand why Rickenbacker changed over to the Ac'cent unit! The thicker body style is very nice. It's heavier than I expected, but overall I'm over the moon with the Capri. I think I should call this one 'Blondie'. Enjoy the photos.

Howard, the jeans will have to match the really bad stonewashed-denim Rickenbacker jacket I bought a couple of months ago (I'm not joking!). I'm looking forward to our next get together so you can give the Capri a good working over!

Or in my case, a bad working over... LOL!

Look forward to it, Darren. BTW, you, Greg and I need to talk about a few numbers to work on. I've thought of one that could be fun.. "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (as do I when I see the shots of the Capri and 335F... sigh!) Have you heard the Jeff Healey Band version?

Darren, Just exactly how have you got your Rickenbackers hanging in your photo?

I'm now convinced that the most coolest Rics have been absconded by various Aussies! (Yeah, Howard, you too!)

You guys are making me want to move there, big time! ;-)

The current entry requirement (at least as far as Darren, Greg and I are concerned) is ownership of a minimum of one Rick, Steve. If you meet that criteria, come on over!! Image

BTW - it would help if you had a New Zealand accent. Then you could go straight on to unemployment benefits if you didn't have a job. LOL!

Very nice Darren. BTW I hope those Rics in the photo don't permanently hang there like that.

Aitch, Oz has a Ric entry requirement? So that's how all those terrorists that you blokes just caught drew attention to themselves. LOL

Dan & Brian, For the purposes of taking the photo I've hung up the guitars using brass wire and brass picture hooks on the picture rail. After that, they all get tucked away safely into their silver or black Rickenbacker cases. With the amount of housework I now have to do, the last thing I need is guitars to dust and keep clean!!

Thanks for your comments everyone.
