Ed's not selling Rics anymore???
Moderators: rickenbrother, ajish4
I was at Ed's a month ago. He told me that dealers don't want to sell Bass guitars anymore because their is no mark-up and not enough customers. All this as he pulled his custom version off the rack and told me how much better it is than a Ric. He did have a nice selection though. First time I ever laid eyes on a 650S in person. Nobody watched me in the store. I had to constantly ask for assistance since the Ric's were roped off.
However nice and versatile and playable a bass is, the fact is that if it's not a Ric, then it's just not a Ric. It's like, X guitar might be better than a Gibson, but it's *not* a Gibson. You might be able to improve every aspect of something, but if the end result is something completely different, then you've defeated the purpose.

This was an interesting read given the latest thread regarding Ed and his latest business venture.
If Mozart were with us today, he'd play a Fireglo 4001C64! ~~~*~~~ Beethoven, on the other hand, would play a Matte Jetglo 4001C64S!

Do you really need to bump all these old threads?Ric N. Backer wrote:This was an interesting read given the latest thread regarding Ed and his latest business venture.

One of the benefits of having an archive is that older pertinent threads can be updated.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm
