Anyone know of an online store that'll let me pay for a Rick by the month? I want my Nana to bring me a Jetglo 4003 from the states when she moves here in January. I'd be paying her for it, and using her credit card to get it. I might settle for Midnight Blue, but I prefer just plain black.

Mike does. 10% down will reserve any model he's got on order. That's how I ordered my C64FG through him. Plus, he's a very nice guy to deal with. I bought my Monty Brown 4003 from him, making payments until the bass came in. I've almost got that C64 paid for now. He's also in NC where I live, which makes it even easier for me.
I recently went back to playing a Rickenbacker bass. Its like meeting an old friend again

I might go with AMS. If I can talk my Nana into it, I'll be getting the bass in January when she gets down here. I'll have to wait a couple more days. I asked her and she said ask later. We'll see.
Wish me luck! A 4003 would be great. It'll be nice not having the string tension worry in the back of my head all the time.

A new 4003? I played a few up at a local guitar shop... Didnt like them. Neck was to think. Plus the set up was probly way off. I dont even recall now. I want to visit it the next time I visit the record store (they are right next to each other). I like the 4001's alot better. Just me. And If you set it up right and use the right strings you shouldnt have to worry about the neck tension. I mean Chips had his for what.. 30 something years and the necks perfect... And what about all the cats on here. Doesnt seem like much of a problem to me. But then again... You guys are the experts.
I'm not a flats player.. I play rounds. I always have a little voice in the back of my head saying "Your bass could break because of these strings!" I don't like that.. plus I want a new bass.. and it's gotta be a Rick. I love the sound and shape, but I want to use rounds and not worry. A 4003 is my best bet.
