Macca 2005 Tour Merchandise

Post by lowendbob »

I can't understand this. Why is Paul posing with a Fender Strat? Not to say he has never played one, but he's certainly not identified as being a Fender player. I have even yet to see him playing one. The poster would have been much more appealing with his 4001 pictured, or even the Hofner.
What's up with that?

There was no sign of his Rickenbacker bass in the guitar racks at the Anaheim show last night. I bet he didn't even bring it with him. Wonder if he ever plays it at home. I know he has recently publicly stated his absolute preference for the Hofner basses. He had his Cavern Hofner with him last night too, that was neat to see.

J. The interview with Paul in last months issue of Bass Player, Paul said that the 4001 was his backup bass for this tour.
Who knows, maybe he changed his mine, or we just haven't seen it.

Yeah...or maybe it's a cross business deal between Fender/Fidelity Investments/MPL to corporatize every conceivable aspect of this last tour....

I hear next tour he'll be appearing on the cover dressed in a NASCAR-esque zip up jump suit patched up and sponsored by Merck and one or two other "exclusive" major pharmaceutical companies while holding a Coors light in one hand and a Coke in the other....

The only guitar Paul played when I saw him was a Les Paul. He also had a Martin, I think.

I think the color of the Strat matched his face powder.

Shouldn't it be a Sonic Blue? Otherwise, it won't match John's and George's. Image

I've got my Scary Sir Paul Halloween stickers.

They came a bit late, though:Image

Paul's Bass rack is as follows....

His main Bass (Hofner 62 lefty)

his backups are

a new hofner given to him with removed pickgaurd and relic'ed

his wal bass from the get back tour era

and his 4001

My assumption is that its possible that he may use his 62' bass and probably already has used his other.....heck, that may not even be his bass in the first place.

I think he does occasionally play a Strat in the studio. I've seen some studio shots of him recording w/ one.

We had a pretty direct view of the instrument racks and I didn't see any Rick or Wal - believe me I looked!! :-) We were about 25 feet away. I'm not trying to be argumentative, but those two basses were very obviously absent.

This pic is pretty dark but I've circled the rack/tech area.

There was no Ric or Wal to be seen when I saw him in Boston over the summer.
