Thanks Ilan! Brian, I hope to get to hear your bass - it's also black with black trim, isn't it? I really enjoy being able to record at home - I use ProTools and a Mac - it's been really important to my development as a musician, artist (at least I hope so!), and as a person. Of course, it helps to have a friend with a multi-track studio in his basement and another friend who's a professional drummer!

Harry, nice 8 stringing.

I asked Kenny H. if he could I.D. the model number by the serial number. It is definitely strung like a 4008. After Kenny did some research he felt that due to the late production date, it was a very early 4003/8, with some leftover
features of the 4008.

That's some really fluid playing! Sounds great, & the drummer sounds really good too.
Nice 8 stringer Dave, I've always been a fan of Tom Petersen's sound back in the day, but that was a Hamer of course. Always wanted to try one, but I didn't know how much I'd get to use one in a band context. Definitely adds some new textures to the sound.
Plus five minus five!

That mp3 is the strongest argument I've yet heard for getting a 40038. Grrrr...

Harry.. I love it! I've always wanted to do a harmony kinda song like that with a guitar player.. now I know I don't need one! That song is gonna be in my player in the computer for a long time!

How much do those 4003s8's go for on the bay? I HAVE to get me one after hearing Harry's song.

I got mine for around $1300 but I was lucky and mine was perfect. I think $1500-$1750 is a little more likely for one with normal player wear and more for nice examples. Dave has a FireGlo s8 for sale that is an excellent player and looks like new. If I didn't have one I would have bought it for sure.
