Yup. It even looks to be different enough to keep them out of court.

The 4005 is much more refined. This is kinda bulbous.

Looks like a well made instrument. They lost me with the headstock though.

This thing's even uglier than a 4005. I would have thought that impossible.

I've been in contact with Waterstone several times. The owner is a huge Ric fan, and in particular a fan of the 4005.

Originally this bass sold for about $400, which is amazing, it's now I think around $550. Given that there's never going to be a re-issue 4005, this is a reasonably good alternative.

They won't at this time do anything close to Fireglo, so it'd need to be refinished by a third party.

I'd love a chance to try one, they look really well made.

John, as ugly as you think the 4005 is / was, there are probably about 100 Forum members me included, who'd snatch up a reissue if you were ever to make one.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, that's why some sad individuals like non-Ric basses

LOL!!!

That comment is reminiscent of Gerald Ratner in the UK when he told the shareholders at an AGM that the reason his jewellery was not selling was because “it was ****”

Their share price took a major dive after that…

I guess it's a good thing that Ric isn't still selling 4005's. :D

Maybe that's why the owner tried to jack my 4005 from me...Maybe if I'd let him have it, he would have gotten it right.
